A little over a week ago, we announced that Snip-Its was becoming Typlo. Today, that transition is done. Everything has been moved, redirected, and updated. Typlo is officially the product name, and typlo.app is the home.
What We Shipped
Here is what the rebrand covered:
- Domain migration. All website operations now run on typlo.app. Every old snipitapp.com link redirects to its typlo.app equivalent.
- App identity. The desktop application displays "Typlo" everywhere: window title, installer, system tray, and about screen.
- Auto-update endpoints. Existing installations check typlo.app for updates. Older installations still checking snipitapp.com are redirected automatically.
- License continuity. All Premium licenses carry over. No action required from users.
- Documentation. Every doc, readme, and code comment has been updated to reflect the Typlo name.
Nothing Broke
This was a priority from the start. The product itself did not change during the rebrand. Your snippets are still stored locally on your machine. Your triggers still expand the same way. Your custom variables still run. If you were using Snip-Its before the rename, the only visible difference is the name in the title bar.
If you have the app installed, the next auto-update will bring you the Typlo-branded version. No reinstall needed.
Now: New Features
With the rebrand behind us, our full attention turns to building new functionality. The foundation is solid -- local-first storage, cross-platform support, Python and JavaScript custom variables, Fill Form, and encrypted snippets are all shipping and stable. Now we get to build on top of that.
We are not announcing a specific roadmap today, but here is the direction we are headed:
- More variable types. Expanding what you can do inside a snippet without writing code.
- Workflow improvements. Faster snippet creation, better organization, and smarter search.
- Platform polish. Continued improvements to the macOS and Linux experience alongside Windows.
- Premium features. New capabilities exclusive to Premium that justify the $2/month price point.
We will share specifics as features get closer to release.
Thank You
Rebrands are disruptive by nature, and we appreciate everyone who stuck with us through the transition. The name changed, but the commitment did not: build the best privacy-first text expansion tool available, keep it affordable, and never compromise on local-first data ownership.
